I was not having a good day yesterday.  I was in a terrible mood and having lots of pains so my reaction to the news about the orders flipped me over the edge.  Now that the paperwork is done and sent to approval, I am a little more calm today.  However, they only review this stuff one week per month so we have to wait until the first week in December to get the approval and then the orders.  He was supposed to detach from recruiting in December… so we better get them then.  Or I might actually blow a gasket.

Over reaction or not, someone did not do their job properly.  That is what I am the most upset about.  Thankfully  my husband has more diligence to follow up on this stuff.  I feel bad for the others that may have fallen through the cracks and didnt realize until it was too late.  My husband keeps reassuring me that the orders should be fine, and that he is locked in.  But I will not stop worrying about them until they are in our possession.

I would like the stress from all of this to be over, and for us to be living in the sunshine.  That will be nice. 

But from now until the first week of December, it will be more of the same… wait wait wait.  Ugh.

I am in two fantasy football leagues.  I enjoy it most of the time.  This year… I am sucking it up big time in both leagues.  I have a lot of decent players.  However those players are: inconsistent, injured, having bad games, their QBs are having bad games, etc.

It’s a bit of a difference from last year where I was last in one league and 1st in the other.  I at least had one that was kickass.

Eeehhh well.  Thats why its a game.  Im not losing any sleep over it, but my pride is hurt a little. 

Maybe my season will turn around… it is only week 5.  Either that or it will be another 10 weeks of Fantasy Football hell.

Well I had already decided to post today about how football season is approaching, and my friend at My Army Wife Life beat me to it.  But you know what?  Im still going to write about it anyways.  Now I dont think that 24 hours of football is heaven or anything   but I do love it.  And Im in two fantasy leagues again this year.  I had my friends & family draft last night.  Even though this is a free league, and we dont have any money riding on it, I really feel like I have something to prove.  Last year I ended up in last place (not for a lack of trying!).  So Ive gotten crap about it from all my guy friends & some in laws.  They all just assumed I had no idea what I was doing and that Id end up in last place… and I did.  BUT on my work league that Im in, I was in first place all year.  I did lose the final game the “superbowl” if you will, so I actually did end up in 2nd place.  Lets not talk about that though.  What matters is that I did well.  I legitimately shocked the guys in my work league, they thought I would be last place too.   

So with the first draft done and another one in a week, Im pretty dang excited for football to start.  I do enjoy watching football.  Fantasy football does make it a little more exciting, and makes you more interested in what is actually happening.  Although, Im sure its not for everyone.  I cannot wait until the weather is a little cooler, the leaves are changing on the trees and Im on the couch with a pumpkin ale watching a football game.  Sounds marvelous to me.

As you can see I took a chance on a few rookies.  They all were drafted in the first round and look extremely promising.  I took Matt Forte as a rookie last year and that payed off.  He was amazing!  So we will see. 

Also, has anyone noticed that there is already Octoberfest and Pumpkin beers on the shelves in their area?  I was at my favorite beer / liquor store and they were stocked with the fall seasonal brews already.  I know that its almost September and fall is just around the corner, but seeing them really made me wonder – how the hell its almost September?  This year is frigging flying by.  I do love fall, its my favorite season, so I am going to soak up all the wonderful autumn-y things while Im still here in the Midwest

I lost my fantasy football playoff game.  By 1.6 points.  If I would have played anyone else I would have won.  I guess that just figures.

But ehh well I guess I should look on the bright side… no one gave me a chance in hell at the begining of the season and I was 1st place the entire time.  I see that as a (partial) victory.

Damn the lady in the office walking around singing Christmas carols when Im trying to work!  I find myself singing them constantly without even noticing.  When I do notice, I stop myself immediately… because we already have an office caroler (see first sentence).    No, seriously… she sings Let it Snow in June.  She starts counting down to Christmas in August.  Its a tad annoying.  I love the holidays.  There is something warm and inviting in the air… but come on!  I need a friggin break.

Well we are officially going to Florida for 5 days starting the 19th to visit D’s older sister.  Myself, D, Baby Girl, and D’s brother are flying down at 7 am, meaning we have to get up at the wee hours of the morning… ick.  Im hoping Baby Girl will do alright this time.  She flew with D down there in February when she was only 4 months old and apparently slept the entire time (on both flights).  Im excited to be going and visiting with family we never see, but Im not too excited about traveling with a busy 13 month old that only wants to run and play.  Lets hope she’s still tired and will sleep the whole time again.  Doubt it though

Although I did just say that I need a break from all the Christmas-ness around the office here, I did put a string of lights around my cubicle.  Its that one time of year you can actually get away with it.  I think its cute.

Also, since I think I am possibly the most pale person on the planet I started tanning.  Its been a really long time since Ive gotten some sun exposure and I think my skin was so light that I was see-through.  And thats just not good.  Im not looking for a fake orange-y leather skin tan here… just a nice glow I think.  Plus its winter in Detroit and Im not getting enough Vitamin D from the lack of sunshine   Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

Oh!  And  lost this week in fantasy football but Im still ranked #1 going into the playoffs.  So wish me luck for the next couple weeks.  I’ll need it, and I could really use (and want) the prize money.

Yes, I am a little.  But mostly that song is just in my head today.  I dont think Ive ever posted about my adventures of fantasy football.  Yes, I play fantasy football.  Im a newbie this year, but Im on two separate leagues.  One at work for money   the other with D and some friends / family.  I think its funny that the friends / family one I am doing terrible.  I mean, I can barely win a game and in last place terrible.  No one on that league can fathom that I could be any good at fantasy football… but at work I’m 11-2.  Yes I am in first place in the work league.  Part -I might know a little bit what Im doing, part- luck.  I mean honestly you can have the “best” team put together and still lose if they all have crappy games.

Anyways, Im nervous now that Im doing alright.  I went from being the “token” girl on the league (because I kept asking the guys last year why they wouldnt let the women play), to being the one to beat.  I have to admit that I do like it.  Maybe its breaking a stereotype… maybe its just awesome.  Haha.  Anyways, when I started playing I had absolutely NO expectation that I would walk away with any money at the end of the year.  Now Im nervous that I wont.  Im crazy competitive and a bit of a perfectionist… so needless to say that I want to come out on top.

Oh and by the way I barely squeaked out a win this week… I won by 0.5 points.  Thanks Peyton!

Well a couple more weeks and we will see how the plays out.

Last weekend D, a friend of ours and I went to the University of Michigan – Northwestern game at the Big House (also known as Michigan Stadium).  None of us had ever been there and we were very excited to go.  The problem was that the weather didnt want to cooperate.  Temperatures in the low 30s, and rain.  Lots and lots of rain.  Add in a little sleet, and then change it over to snow.  I tell you – it was a blast.  Not.

We were all in awe of the large stadium and the crowd of about 100,000 that showed up despite the crappy cold weather.  Everyone was bundled tight with ponchos and rain gear.  But unfortunately it didnt help much.  By kick off we were freezing.  By the end of the 1st quarter we were soaked.  And by the end of the 1st half we were ready to call it quits.  Now we really wanted to stay for the rest of the game, but we were all pretty sure it wasnt healthy nor safe to be soaked and standing in 30 degree weather.  But I have to say that the mile walk back to the car was pure torture.  My feet felt like frozen blocks of ice.  Pretty much like I took some beef out of the freezer and replaced it with my foot.  Yes!  It felt great.  Add to that the fact that I was wearing two pairs of pants that were stuck to my legs because they were so wet, so I wasnt moving very gracefully or quickly.  And we all were pretty much in the same boat.  We really thought we were prepared.  We all had on plenty of layers and rain proof jackets.  But that Michigan weather… it will get you in the end.

But despite all of that, we were all glad we went.  We had phenomenal seats.  They were at the 20 yeard line on the Michigan sideline, 19 rows up.  They really were great.  Hopefully we can go again when the weather is a bit more cooperative.  It really made me wish we would have gotten the tickets to the Toledo game in early October instead.  Damn us with our – we want to see a goodgame- logic.  Because Michigan lost to both teams!  It wouldnt have really even mattered.  Eeeehhh oh well.  No harm no foul
